Remembering Tashonda Sanders

Tashonda Sanders, age 17, passed away June 1. She joined the University of Chicago Upward Bound Program in the spring of 2017. She was planning on attending college to major in either sports science or kinesiology with the goal of working in sports medicine.

She is remembered by her fellow classmates as a sincere friend and advocate for the needs of others. Said fellow Upward Bound student Mekhia Harris, Tashonda was “a problem solver” who “never liked to see someone angry.”

Her funeral will take place at 10 a.m., on Friday, June 14, at Leak & Sons Funeral Homes, 18400 S. Pulaski Road, Country Club Hills, IL, 60478.
