Writer's Studio Write-In at the UChicago Arts Incubator

Ring in 2020 by writing with the University of Chicago Writer’s Studio at the UChicago Arts Incubator! Join the Writer's Studio for a day of writing, community, and inspiration at the FREE Write-In. Starting a new year on a positive, productive note sets the tone for the months to come. With that in mind, this will be a space for creativity, focused work, and community. Most of the time will be devoted to working individually, but the day will also begin with an inspiring lesson from internationally acclaimed novelist and Writer’s Studio instructor Dipika Mukherjee.

The day will start at 11:30 a.m. with a light reception and an informal focus-initiating exercise led by Writer’s Studio Program Manager Gina DiPonio. At noon, Dipika Mukherjee will lead the group in a writing lesson. At 1 p.m., the focused writing time begins! Every 45 minutes or so, a new prompt or piece of inspiration will be shared with the group as fuel and encouragement. Voices will fill the room from 4:30-5, at which point the day will be wrapped.

Please join us to devote yourself to your creative pursuits alongside other writers!

Registration is required, and seats are limited at this free event.

ABOUT THE UCHICAGO ARTS INCUBATOR

The 1920s building located at Garfield Boulevard and Prairie Avenue has been renovated for the University of Chicago’s Arts + Public Life initiative. Envisioned by artist Theaster Gates, the Arts Incubator is a space for artist residencies, arts education, community-based arts projects, as well as exhibitions, performances, and talks. Arts + Public Life (APL), an initiative of UChicago Arts, provides platforms for artists and access to arts programming through artist residencies, arts education, creative entrepreneurship, and artist-led programs and exhibitions. APL advances and promotes a robust, collaborative, and evolving relationship between the University of Chicago and the South Side’s vibrant civic, cultural, and artistic communities.
