The Race Card Project with Michele Norris

In 2010, former NPR journalist Michele Norris founded The Race Card Project. Asking participants to articulate their observations and experiences of race into only six words, Norris wanted to start conversations about race in America – conversations that would elicit sentiments and hard realities that had rarely been expressed aloud.

Now, join the IOP as we welcome Michele Norris to discuss the project, its legacy, and how it can help us understand American politics in 2019.

In addition to her work on The Race Card Project, Michele Norris serves as the Executive Director of The Bridge, the Aspen Institute’s program on race, identity, connectivity, and inclusion. For more than a decade, she was the host of NPR’s “All Things Considered.” She has been named Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists, and she received a Peabody Award for her work curating The Race Card Project. In 2011, Norris published her memoir, The Grace of Silence.
