Kick Off with the First Dementia Friendly Community in Chicago

Join the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference and Dementia Friendly Hyde Park for a community dialogue on the Dementia Friendly Hyde Park initiative and learn about what it feels like to live with or care for someone living with dementia.

In 2020, SHARE Network ChicagoThe UChicago Memory Center, and The Chicago Hyde Park Village partnered to lead the effort to establish Hyde Park as the first Dementia Friendly Community in Chicago. This event is co-hosted by the University of Chicago Medicine Center for Comprehensive Care and Research on Memory Disorders.

All from Chicagoland are welcome: To learn more, contribute ideas or volunteer with the 1st Dementia Friendly Community in Chicago.

Dementia Friendly Hyde Park is a part of a national movement called Dementia Friendly America, which seeks to raise awareness about the impact of dementia on communities. Various stakeholders in Hyde Park are working collaboratively to ensure that our community is equipped with adequate information, training, and resources to support people living with dementia and their caregivers. We look forward to everyone getting involved, including community members, clinics, residential settings, businesses, local government agencies and faith communities.
