Jose Antonio Vargas, “The Master Narrative: Race & Immigration in America”
The CSRPC's Annual Public Lecture features distinguished public intellectuals whose work promotes engaged thought and scholarship around topics of race and ethnicity within the public sphere. This year, we are pleased to present Jose Antonio Vargas, journalist, filmmaker, and immigration rights activist as our chosen speaker. Born in the Philippines and raised in the United States as an undocumented citizen, Vargas has been vocal about the politics of immigration and the toll it takes on the American family, society, and beyond. Vargas won the Pulitzer Prize for his book, "Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen," which will be available for sale & signing.
Reception to follow.
This event is free and open to the public.
This event is co-sponsored by International House, The University of Chicago Coalition for Immigrant Rights, Student Support Services, and Seminary Co-op Bookstores.
