Prior to joining UChicago, Christina led U.S. Senator Dick Durbin’s Illinois communications team for more than a decade. In that role, she drove the Senator’s engagement on key issues, developed communications and outreach strategies to promote his policy initiatives to media and key thought leaders, and served as his primary Illinois spokesperson, cultivating strong relationships with the Illinois news media. She worked closely with key government offices, civic institutions, advocacy and community-based organizations and other local partners to inform and advance the Senator’s legislative agenda. During that time, she also served as communications director for Sen. Durbin’s 2008 re-election campaign and press secretary for former U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean’s successful 2004 campaign against a 35-year incumbent.
Earlier in her career, while at public affairs firms in Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Christina counseled major industry associations, nonprofits, and corporations on issues management, coalition building, and strategic stakeholder engagement in an effort to advance their public policy goals.
