Victor Alvarez
Director of Community Development Initiatives
Victor serves as the Director of Community Development Initiatives. He oversees the “Buy, Live, and Hire Local” programs, which support the Office of Civic Engagement’s economic inclusion efforts at the University of Chicago.
Victor brings over 25 years of leadership experience in community economic development through leadership in the private sector and with local and national nonprofits. He previously served as the Business Diversity Manager for facilities procurement at the University of Chicago. In that role, he led the Economic Impact program, which significantly contributed to the University of Chicago’s efforts to meet construction business diversity and workforce goals.

Victor earned an EMBA from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
