Daughter of Brown v. Board of Education plaintiff to speak at UChicago’s 2022 MLK commemoration

Cheryl Brown Henderson—daughter of Rev. Oliver L. Brown, the lead plaintiff in Brown v. Board of Education—will deliver the MLK commemoration keynote address at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on Feb. 21. Her comments will be followed by a conversation between Pastor Chris Harris and Deborah Gorman-Smith, dean of the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.

Andrea Polk, owner of Zen Soul Apothecary, sells kits containing herbal teas, bath bombs, affirmation cards, and sage bundles to help women restore inner balance. Both of her brands are available at the L1 Retail Store, a project of UChicago Arts & Public Life meant to support entrepreneurship and economic development in the South Side neighborhood.
