Each Year, the University Community Service Center honors between four and five students who significantly impact our community and our world through their work. We're pleased to introduce you to our 2021 winners below.


President's Volunteer Service Award

The President's Volunteer Service Award recognizes students who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to voluntary service in the greater community during the past academic year.

Perry Herst Prize

The Perry Herst Prize recognizes the achievement of graduating seniors in the College who have successfully integrated their academic studies with community engagement in a way that has enriched both sets of activities.

Incoming College students connect with more than 100 South Side community leaders at annual Engage Chicago orientation event

Organized by the University Community Service Center, the event brought local nonprofit and faith leaders, artists, small business owners, school principals, and elected officials together with small groups of students across UChicago’s campus and talked to them about the spectrum of ways they can meaningfully engage with the South Side and Chicago as a whole during their years here.
