Smart - Sweetwater Foundation Grant Article

The Chicago Tribune reports on the $50,000 award that the University of Chicago's Smart Museum won from the Joyce Foundation, grant funding that will be used to support Great Lakes-region artists of color. The Smart will collaborate with the Sweet Water Foundation, headed by Emmanual Pratt, as they build and develop their arts-centered ecosystem, called "People, Energy, Light, Power: the [Re]Construction of Ethos." The project will center around the activation and renovation of a lot on a block in the South Side where the Englewood and Washington Park neighborhoods intersect. The project will also fund and support youth apprentices, culminating with the building of a neighborhood hub for community members to safely gather and access opportunities.
