Community Business Workshops

The University of Chicago is committed to promoting the economic development of its surrounding communities. This commitment includes supporting local businesses, both through contracting and purchasing opportunities and by providing the educational resources to help them succeed.

One example of educational support is the monthly Community Business Workshop for small business owners and entrepreneurs from neighboring communities and members of the Polsky Exchange.

The workshops are hosted by the Office of Civic Engagement, Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and IJ Clinic on Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Law School, and sponsored by Union Bank. Through presentations and panel discussions, the workshops provide actionable and useful information to strengthen and grow a small business. They cover such topics as negotiations, public relations, bookkeeping, and equity financing.

Community Business Workshops are held the second Wednesday of the month at the Polsky Exchange North, 1452 E. 53rd St., 2nd Floor, in Hyde Park.
