Virtual Event: What Are We Rehearsing For? Politics and Praxis of Rehearsal in a State of Emergency

“The world is burning--but our worlds have always been burning--and how do we make sense of that as movers? It became clear at some point that we were no longer rehearsing for the show. The show may never happen. But we continue to rehearse because it has deeper meaning and potentially greater impact. What are we rehearsing for in this state of emergency?”

Please join Arts + Public Life (APL) and the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture (CSRPC) for a conversation among performance artists and dancers who gather virtually to make sense of the world. The roundtable, led by Anna Martine Whitehead (APL/CSRPC 2019/20 Artist-in-Residence, director of FORCE! an opera in three acts), features Maria Bauman-Morales (choreographer and Artistic Director of MBDance); Ron Ragin (composer and performer), Audrey Hailes (dance-theater artist); as well as Jasmine Mendoza, Jenn Freeman and Zachary Nicol (the cast of FORCE!).
