Sponsored by the University of Chicago in partnership with Downtown Hyde Park, the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, and the South East Chicago Commission, Hyde Park Holly-Day is a day of FREE holiday activities for the entire family including:
- Holiday Movie – the Harper Theater is sponsoring a free screening of “Moana 2” – showtime is at 10 a.m. and admission is first come, first served.
- Ice Sculpture Stroll/Ice Carving Demo – explore the north and south sides of 53rd Street between S. Lake Park Avenue to S. Woodlawn Avenue to find twelve different ice sculptures. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Harper Court, watch as two artists from Nadeau Ice Sculptures sculpts blocks of ice with a chain saw.
- Soul Santa & Mrs. Claus – presented by Mama Fresh Chicago at The Promontory, families can take a free holiday photo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Note: This is a very popular event. We will do our best to accommodate as many people as possible, but we may have to stop the line prior to 1 p.m. to ensure that we finish on time.
- Buddy the Elf – Buddy will be spreading holiday cheer all around Hyde Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Keep an eye out on 53rd Street, in Harper Court, at the Promontory and at the Hyde Park Shopping Center.
- Holiday Crafts & Activities – Kids can create several holiday crafts and activities with Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and winter themes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Promontory.
- Costumed Characters – Ariel, Bluey, Spiderman, and Olaf will be greeting kids and signing autographs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at local businesses around Hyde Park. Check the activities schedule for addresses and exact times.
- Dance Performances – enjoy holiday-themed dance performances at The Promontory, starting at 1:30 p.m. with the Hyde Park School of Dance and the Kenwood School of Ballet.
- Live Reindeer – see two live reindeer at the Hyde Park Shopping Center Courtyard from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and snap a family photo.
