State Government Relations

The University of Chicago advances its research and education priorities at the state level through collaboration and coordination with Illinois agencies, elected officials, and other policymakers.

The state government relations team complements the Office of Federal Relations and local liaisons to engage faculty, students, and staff in promoting the University as an essential long-term resource in the development of public policy.

We engage with elected officials in Springfield on a wide range of issues, including higher education policy, elementary and secondary education, matters impacting the University’s charter school, public health, Medicaid, and issues affecting the delivery of social services. We identify funding opportunities for University priorities. We also assist faculty members who are seeking opportunities to interact with public officials.
