For more than 20 years, the University of Chicago Medicine's Urban Health Initiative has worked with Chicago's South Side community to understand and help with its most important health, social and economic issues. In 2016, this work expanded to the Southland community served by UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial in south suburban Harvey. With the opening of a multispecialty care facility in Crown Point in 2024, UChicago Medicine's community benefit primary service areas will now include Northwest Indiana.
