Standing at the Precipice: Women, Work, and the Age of COVID-19

2020 has seen an unprecedented amount of change, seemingly overnight. But most of this change represented a quickening of things that were already underway. Changes around remote work, equity, and human interaction were on their way for years, with fantastic implications for women in the workforce. The old-boys-club way of doing business was on its way out and a new era of conscious capitalism was on its way. Unfortunately, the demands of childcare and virtual school driving women out of the workforce in droves. Will 2020 set women back a decade? Or can  2020 be an opportunity to fundamentally change the nature of work and create inclusive and equitable work environments? Join Polsky Center and Ashley Quinto Powell as for a conversation into the risk of the ‘new normal’ for modern women and the opportunity it presents.

About the speaker:

Ashley Quinto Powell is a self-advocacy expert who focuses on the intersection of work, family, and self. She is a national speaker — most recently for the TEDx, Pinterest, and Google — and she supports women in business through formal and informal mentorship communities. Quinto Powell is the founder of The Madison Bossy and The Chicago Boss, a community of women actively advancing their careers while raising children. She has been quoted in MSNMoney.com and the Huffington Post and is the subject of a children's book, "She's a Technology Sales Executive and She's My Mom".
