Join fellow nonprofit board leaders at this interactive networking session, facilitated via Zoom breakout rooms. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions related to issues in managing a nonprofit board.

NOTE: This opportunity is intended only for those currently serving as a board chair/president, vice chair/president, treasurer, secretary, or committee head.

Ru Nyambuya, '12

Client Coverage Senior Manager, Standard Bank Group

Ru Nyambuya, ’12, is a senior manager within client coverage at Standard Bank in the New York office, where she manages a portfolio of clients based in North America who do business in Africa. During her tenure in Standard Bank, she has also spent time in the Johannesburg office as the business manager to the global sector head for power and infrastructure and helped to drive the bank’s strategy across the continent for initiatives including unlocking off-grid power. One of Nyambuya’s main passions is promoting access to a quality education to the underserved in Africa. She currently serves on the board of directors of Education Matters Africa Foundation, a nonprofit whose mission is to develop a generation of dynamic young leaders committed to using their education to address challenges in their communities, starting in Zimbabwe. Nyambuya earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, a master’s in accounting from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from Chicago Booth.

Andrew Puente, '05

Global Sourcing Director, Dover Corporation

Andrew Puente, ’05, is the global sourcing and vendor management director of indirect services for Dover Corporation, where he is responsible for the sourcing strategy and developing strategic supplier partnerships for the global manufacturing firm based in Downers Grove. Previously, he spent 10 years at United Airlines as the director of sourcing and vendor management and also held roles in finance and IT. Puente is currently the chairman of the board for CHAT (Communication, Health, Advocacy & Therapy), which provides speech and language therapy for children throughout Chicagoland. He has been on the board there since 2014 and has served as the board chairman for six years. Puente earned an MBA from Chicago Booth, with a focus on finance and marketing, and has a finance degree from Georgetown University.
