Interrupting Gun Violence in Chicago

Join the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration in partnership with WTTW for a free screening and discussion of FIRSTHAND: Gun Violence, a documentary exploring the personal, firsthand perspectives of people whose lives have been affected by gun violence in Chicago. Following the screening, Deborah Gorman-Smith, PhD, Dean and Emily Klein Gidwitz Professor, will moderate a panel featuring:

  • Eddie Bocanegra, AM '15, Senior Director, READI Chicago;
  • Norman Kerr, AM '11, Director of Violence Prevention, City of Chicago Mayor’s Office of Public Safety;
  • Selwyn Rogers, MD, MPH, Professor of Surgery & Founding Director, UChicago Medicine Trauma Center;
  • Reality Allah, Outreach Worker, READI Chicago, featured in the film, and;
  • FIRSTHAND: Gun Violence filmmakers
