Artifice, a Woodlawn-based organization, is seeking a volunteer with an interest in community organizing to help raise awareness for its bold approach to STEM education.

Artifice, established in December 2013, runs mostly on volunteer power and currently has more ambitions than (wo)man hours. The Community Partnerships Intern would introduce Artifice to more of our Woodlawn neighbors and to formalize new and existing community partnerships. This will enable Artifice to demonstrate community buy-in on its website and in grant proposals, as well as allow the organization to serve a greater number of Chicagoans, facilitate collaboration on new grants and programs, and help us to be sure that we are providing services that the community wants.

A Community Partnerships Intern would have the opportunity to make a huge positive impact on the organization and hone his or her one-on-one interview/intentional relationship building skills. The intern would be supervised by Curriculum Director Adam Hammond, with additional input from Director of Outreach Pete Dahlberg and CEO Ashley Lane.

Major Responsibilities include:

• Acting as an advocate for Artifice and learn/grow strategic partnership building skills
• Making area schools and nonprofits aware of our organization and the potential for partnerships
• Distributing flyers to local cafes, churches, etc.

Volunteer position hours are flexible within a range of five to 15 hours per week. Start and end dates are flexible.
