Midweek on the Midway 2017 Begins July 12

The Office of Civic Engagement's annual summer movie series, Midweek on the Midway, kicks off on July 12 with the animated film Moana. Screenings will take place each Wednesday through August 9, when the series wraps up with Finding Dory. Thanks to collaborations with a variety of on and off campus partners, there will be an youth-oriented activity before each movie.

The 2017 line up is:

July 12 | Moana POSTPONED TO AUGUST 16
Inspired by Moana’s way-finding skills, the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana will lead an orienteering adventure before the movie.

July 19 | The LEGO Batman Movie
Before the movie, come find your inner builder on the Midway with the Museum of Science and Industry. In celebration of the museum’s Brick by Brick exhibit, help construct the Chicago skyline using LEGO® bricks.

July 26 |  Sing
Bring a donation of a dry or canned food item for the Feed1st Food Pantries at Comer Children’s Hospital and capture your inner rock star in our photo frame. The first 100 children to provide a donation will receive a special gift.

August 2 | Escape from Planet Earth
Before the movie, compare the movie’s hero astronaut, Scorch Supernova, to critters walking our planet. See yourself as a South Pole explorer in our selfie booth. Pre-movie fun provided by UChicago’s Department of Astronomy, the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, and Boy Scout Troop 599.

August 9 | Finding Dory
Take a dive deep with Dory before the movie, and join us as we chalk our very own aquarium on the Midway.
